Second in the series, this armband was inspired by a gold bangle by Italian Artist Francesca Corradini. I absolutely loved the shape and decided that I had to try and create one in beads. To recreate the hammered feel I tried my hand at using a method similar to German Short Rows, which I was using while knitting a new pullover. After several attempts, I realised that to achieve the shape I wanted, I would need to bead the piece widthwise which luckily means that you can easily decide on how long the piece needs to be to fit your arm. This also created the elongated stitch repeats as well as the hammered look.
The finished piece was made entirely with size 11/0 Delicas in my favourite colour combo of black, white and red. The band has a hidden clasp so that it fits tightly on your arm and it can be worn facing up or down depending on your preference. The beaded fabric is beautifully fluid and doesn't impede your arm movement.
The fabric of this piece was created with over 7,000 beads and weighs 40g.
